Four towns in East Yorkshire are among those sharing a £1 million Government fund to boost shopping on the high street.
Goole, Bridlington, Beverley and Market Weighton made successful applications to the Town Team Partners initiative. In total there will be 300 Town Team Partners across the country.
Mark Prish, the Local Growth Minister, said: "There's a real hunger in town centres across the country for them to be revitalised and remain attractive places to visit." It is hoped that the injection of money and expertise will help to aid new ventures.
The Town Team Partners initiative was launched after extensive analysis by Mary Portas. In total, 25 towns in Yorkshire will benefit from an allocation expected to be in the region of £250,000.
Prew Lumley, a real estate partner at Squire Sanders, said: "Whilst the cash per team is not a lot, what is more important is the package of support that comes with their new status." She added that towns could learn a lot from each other in terms of regeneration on the high street.
