Karoo Max Performance management

Karoo has introduced a new structure of broadband packages based on performance. We prioritise traffic to ensure you get a great customer experience when surfing the internet and when sending and retrieving emails, on a 24 hour basis. This is very different to the old 'contention ratio' method, which is no longer used by the industry for up to 8Mbps** services. Therefore, we are unable to give a specific ratio figure as this will vary from minute to minute depending on the number of people using our network.

How does Performance Management work?

Performance Management has been implemented to allow our customers to choose the best price performance ratio for their needs. Customers on Karoo Max Option 4 get a bigger individual share of the available bandwidth than customers on Karoo Max Options 3, 2 and 1, during busy periods. This means that, if there are lots of people using our network, their IP traffic arrives more quickly, rather like driving in the bus lane when the rest of the road is congested.

Similarly, Karoo Max Option 3 customers will have priority over Karoo Max Option 1 and Option 2 customers, and anyone who is on Karoo Max Option 2 will have priority over Karoo Max Option 1 customers.

By offering these services, we are putting the performance decision in the hands of our customers. In essence, the more you pay the fewer people you are sharing your available bandwidth with.
