It is often good practice to hard reset the Netgear router before attempting a setup. This is especially the case when you have made several attempts to complete the setup and failed, or you have attempted to use the Netgear setup CD. If the router is 'fresh out the box', a hard reset is not necessary.
Step 1 - Hard reset your Netgear router
- With the Netgear router powered on, place a small thin implement such as a pen or a pin into the small reset button on the back of the Netgear router.
- Hold the reset button in for at least 15 seconds and release.

Step 2 - Setup your Netgear router
- Type http://192.168.0.1 into the Internet Explorer address bar and click ‘Go’.

- Enter ‘admin’ as the username and ‘password’ as the password. Click OK

- Click on ‘ADSL settings’ found in the top left-hand corner
- Set multiplexing Method to LLC-BASED
- Set VPI to 1 and set VCI to 50. Click ‘Apply’

- Click on ‘Basic Settings’.
