Check existing settings in Microsoft Outlook 2000
It is essential that email settings are correct when sending mail. Installing the Karoo software should automatically set up an email account for you. To check that the details for an existing email account are correct follow the steps below.
1. Select 'Tools', then 'Services' from the Outlook menu bar.

2. Select your Karoo email account from the list, then click properties.

3. You will now need to check the following information:

- The "Name:" should have your name how you would like it to appear in the "From:" field when you send emails.
- "Organisation:" should be left blank.
- "E-mail Address:" should have your Karoo email address. As default this is username@username.karoo.co.uk
- "Reply Address:" should be left blank.
Once all information is correct, click the "Servers" tab at the top.
4. You will now need to check the following information:

- The outgoing mail server (SMTP) should be set to smtp.karoo.co.uk
- The incoming mail server (POP) should be set to pop.karoo.co.uk
- In the 'Incoming Mail Server' section, 'Logon using' should be selected, and you should enter your username and password in the boxes provided. Your username and password were chosen when you set up your account with Karoo. As a guide, if your email address was, for example, 'myname@username.karoo.co.uk', your username would be 'username'. Your password is case sensitive, so you must enter it in lower case letters.
- 'Logon using Secure Password Authentication' should not be selected.
- In the 'Outgoing mail' section, the 'My server requires authentication' option should not be selected.
5. Now click on the 'Connection' tab at the top.
Select 'Connect using my phone line', then select your Karoo connection from the menu underneath. This will ensure that Outlook Express will automatically dialup the correct connection.
Once you have checked all the settings, click "OK".

6. Click "OK" to finish.
