Congratulations to the winner of this year's Hull's Favourite Restaurant competition – Mimosa Authentic Turkish Eestaurant
Authentic Turkish restaurant Mimosa, situated on Beverley Road in Hull, has been crowned Hull's Favourite Restaurant 2009 in partnership with Hull Colour Pages and Karoo.
The competition, now in its second year, saw restaurant goers from across Hull vote in their thousands to ensure their favourite restaurant in the area was in the running for the prestigious award.
The general public voted for their restaurant of choice between 1 July and 15 August via mail, email and online. The four restaurants with the most votes were then shortlisted and visited by a panel of secret judges.
Shirin Zandi, Consumer Marketing Manager at Kingston Communications, summarised the judges' feedback. She said: "Having travelled to Turkey, I have to say that Mimosa is the most authentic Turkish restaurant I have ever eaten at. The atmosphere was great – we could have been in Turkey if it wasn't for the rain outside! The food was amazing and we received outstanding service. The restaurant was absolutely spotless with a traditional décor that had a modern twist – well worth a visit."
Mimosa will receive £1,000 worth of advertising in the 2010 Hull Colour Pages Directory and coverage on the Karoo.co.uk website as well as the esteemed title of Hull's Favourite Restaurant 2009. Congratulations also go to The Madras on Anlaby Road, Mr Chu's China Palace on St Andrews Quay and China Red in Dunswell, which all received hundreds of votes and were highly recommended by the judging panel.
Karoo and Hull Colour Pages are proud to be at the centre of local life in Hull and East Yorkshire. Visitors to Karoo.co.uk should keep an eye open for some big improvements to the site's news, entertainment and shopping areas over the coming weeks.
