Karoo Customer Information – Windows Vista & Thomson Speedtouch 330
A large number of customers have contacted our Technical Helpdesk regarding compatibility problems with the Thomson Speedtouch Modem, and the new Microsoft operating system Windows Vista.
The Karoo CD up to and including version E.03 does not include Vista compatible drivers and will not work with Windows Vista. You will need to use the Vista compatible driver available by either ordering the Karoo CD Version E.03_0709, by calling 0870 240 1060 (P&P is charged at £2.00) or by downloading the drivers from our download section from this site by following the instructions below.
Please note: Even with the new drivers, there is only a 50% chance that this will work. Due to this we have stopped selling the Speedtouch 330 modem.

If your Operating System is Windows Vista and you are experiencing problems using the Speedtouch 330 Modem then we would advise that you upgrade your connectivity device to one of these routers to avoid any issues in the future.

Installing the driver.
| NOTE: If you have already attempted to install any previous Thomson Speedtouch USB 330 Driver onto your Windows Vista machine it must be removed prior to installing the compatible Windows Vista Thomson Speedtouch USB 330 driver. Details of how to do this are included in our installation notes listed below. **If you do not have a working or alternative internet connection then you will need to acquire the Windows Vista Thomson Speedtouch USB 330 driver by downloading it onto another computer. You can then transfer the downloaded file to your Windows Vista computer by copying the downloaded file to a CD or a removable device such as a USB storage pen. *Windows Vista will often prompt you to confirm your actions. When prompted by Windows Vista please choose Continue. |
1. Download the Vista driver to your desktop (or alternative computer) by clicking here. When prompted select Desktop and click Save.*
2. If you are downloading the Vista driver to an alternative computer please transfer it to your Windows Vista computer.**
3. If you have a Thomson Speedtouch USB 330 modem plugged into your Vista computer, UNPLUG it by gently coaxing the Thomson Speedtouch 330 USB plug out of your computers USB socket.
4. Check to see if you have an older version of the Thomson Speedtouch USB 330 driver installed by using Windows Vista Programs And Features found in Start>Control Panel.
5. If you have Thomson Speedtouch USB 330 modem driver installed, please un-install the driver.*
6. Restart the PC when prompted.
7. Install the downloaded Vista driver by double left clicking on the downloaded file and follow the on screen instructions.*
8. PLUG in your Thomson Speedtouch USB 330 modem when prompted by the installer, and not before.
